Introduce your elementary students to the power of being kind with these 10 incredible books! Each read is a great way to teach young minds about empathy and compassion.
Introducing young minds to the concept of kindness is an important lesson in any elementary school. These 10 books, filled with empathy and compassion, are all great options for engaging students in conversations around why kindness matters.
They say “Kindness is contagious”, and I truly believe that with all my heart. Small kindnesses, large kindnesses, it doesn’t even make any difference. Just the act of letting someone know you care has such a huge impact in life.
That’s why I am always on the lookout for read aloud options for my first graders that model good examples of kindness. The kinds of books where rich conversations can be had from sharing the story, and where the actions and behaviors of the characters will be remembered for a long time.
Here is a list of some of my ALL-TIME FAVORITE books for spreading love and kindness in the classroom, in no particular order. (Book list contains affiliate links.) *As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.
